KILIMANJARO TREKKING \u2013 MARANGU ROUTE 6 Days\/5 Nights<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Route Description:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is considered to be the easiest path on the Mountain, popularly known as\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Coca Cola route. Given its gradual slope and direct path, Marangu is the only\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodation. There\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 bunk beds at\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and Pillows, but\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut.\u00a0<\/em>Marangu route is a classic trek to the top of Kilimanjaro. However, it has the\u00a0<\/em>Least scenic variety of all routes (ascent and descent are done on the same\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>path)and is the most crowded for that reason.<\/em><\/p>\n

Day 1:\u00a0KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO NAKARA HOTEL(85kms)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival and after immigration and<\/p>\n

customs procedures, you will be received by our Professional Mountain Guide<\/p>\n

who will assist you with your luggage to the waiting vehicle. Thereafter drive to<\/p>\n

Nakara Hotel<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0in Marangu, Moshi for overnight. Meal Plan: Bed & Breakfast<\/p>\n

Day 2:\u00a0MARANGU GATE (1843m) to MANDARA HUT (2700m) Time: 4- 5 hrs<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Distance: 8kms or 5 Miles<\/u><\/p>\n

After breakfast, we will depart from our Hotel to Marangu Gate. Here we will<\/p>\n

spend about 2 hours for registration, payment of fees and final packing.<\/p>\n

Thereafter we will then start climbing passing through dense semi- tropical<\/p>\n

forest up to the first hut which is Mandara Hut (2700m). Dinner and overnight<\/p>\n

stay at Mandara Hut.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Day 3:\u00a0MANDARA HUT (2700m) to HOROMBO HUT (3720m) Time: 6 \u2013 8hrs)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Distance: 12kms or 7 Miles<\/u><\/p>\n

After breakfast, ascend through alpine meadows, grassland and moorland to<\/p>\n

Horombo Hut (3720m). Here both Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks can be easily viewed.<\/p>\n

Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.<\/p>\n

Day4:\u00a0\u00a0HOROMBO HUT (3720m) to KIBO HUT (4703m) Time: 6 \u2013 8hrs<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Distance: 10kms or 6 Miles<\/u><\/p>\n

After breakfast, further ascend to Kibo Hut (4703m). The Landscape becomes<\/p>\n

very stony and eroded. Spectacular mountain vegetation like Giant Cactus,<\/p>\n

Groundswell and Lobelia appear on the way. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo<\/p>\n

Hut.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Day 5:KIBO HUT (4703m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) to HOROMBO HUT (3720m)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Distance: 6Kms or 4 Miles,\u00a0<\/u>Time: 6 \u2013 8hrs<\/p>\n

Wake up at midnight at 23.30hrs. After a snack. We will start the journey to the<\/p>\n

summit through Gilmans Point. It will take us between 6 \u2013 8 hrs to reach the<\/p>\n

summit thus reaching at Uhuru peak in early hours of morning the 6th<\/sup>\u00a0day. We<\/p>\n

will then sign the register book, take group photographs which will last only 3<\/p>\n

minutes where we will then descend down to Kibo Hut and proceed to Horombo<\/p>\n

Hut for hot lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Hut.<\/p>\n

Day 6:\u00a0HOROMBO HUT (3720m) to MARANGU GATE\u00a0 (1843m)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

After breakfast, we will descend to Marangu Gate where we will receive our<\/p>\n

Certificates, a song from the Mountain Crew and there after our driver guide will<\/p>\n

be there to receive you and escort you to the waiting vehicle where you will be<\/p>\n

drive back to the base hotel for Overnight at\u00a0Sal Sanero Hotel (<\/u><\/strong>BB)<\/p>\n

  1. The luggage that porters are allowed to carry is limited to 35 pounds ( i.e 15kg)<\/li>\n
  2. Overweight or extra luggage will require an extra porter at a rate of $10 per bag per day<\/li>\n
  3. You are advised to leave extra luggage at your hotel in Arusha or at our office ( do not leave any valuables like cash, jewelry, electronics, etc)<\/li>\n
  4. Portable toilets: If you are concerned about using public toilets a portable toilet is available for an extra cost of USD 180 per group. This service must be confirmed at the time of booking.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
