Given its gradual slope and direct path, Marangu is the only\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>Route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodation. There\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 bunk beds at\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and Pillows, but\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut.\u00a0<\/em><em>Marangu route is a classic trek to the top of Kilimanjaro. However, it has the\u00a0<\/em><em>Least scenic variety of all routes (ascent and descent are done on the same\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>path)and is the most crowded for that reason.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 1:\u00a0<u>KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO NAKARA HOTEL(85kms)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival and after immigration and<\/p>\n<p>customs procedures, you will be received by our Professional Mountain Guide<\/p>\n<p>who will assist you with your luggage to the waiting vehicle. Thereafter drive to<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Nakara Hotel<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0in Marangu, Moshi for overnight. Meal Plan: Bed &amp; Breakfast<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 2:\u00a0<u>MARANGU GATE (1843m) to MANDARA HUT (2700m) Time: 4- 5 hrs<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Distance: 8kms or 5 Miles<\/u><\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, we will depart from our Hotel to Marangu Gate. Here we will<\/p>\n<p>spend about 2 hours for registration, payment of fees and final packing.<\/p>\n<p>Thereafter we will then start climbing passing through dense semi- tropical<\/p>\n<p>forest up to the first hut which is Mandara Hut (2700m). Dinner and overnight<\/p>\n<p>stay at Mandara Hut.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 3:\u00a0<u>MANDARA HUT (2700m) to HOROMBO HUT (3720m) Time: 6 \u2013 8hrs)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Distance: 12kms or 7 Miles<\/u><\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, ascend through alpine meadows, grassland and moorland to<\/p>\n<p>Horombo Hut (3720m). Here both Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks can be easily viewed.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day4:\u00a0\u00a0<u>HOROMBO HUT (3720m) to KIBO HUT (4703m) Time: 6 \u2013 8hrs<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Distance: 10kms or 6 Miles<\/u><\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, further ascend to Kibo Hut (4703m). The Landscape becomes<\/p>\n<p>very stony and eroded. Spectacular mountain vegetation like Giant Cactus,<\/p>\n<p>Groundswell and Lobelia appear on the way. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo<\/p>\n<p>Hut.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5:<u>KIBO HUT (4703m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) to HOROMBO HUT (3720m)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Distance: 6Kms or 4 Miles,\u00a0<\/u>Time: 6 \u2013 8hrs<\/p>\n<p>Wake up at midnight at 23.30hrs. After a snack. We will start the journey to the<\/p>\n<p>summit through Gilmans Point. It will take us between 6 \u2013 8 hrs to reach the<\/p>\n<p>summit thus reaching at Uhuru peak in early hours of morning the 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0day. We<\/p>\n<p>will then sign the register book, take group photographs which will last only 3<\/p>\n<p>minutes where we will then descend down to Kibo Hut and proceed to Horombo<\/p>\n<p>Hut for hot lunch.
